Identity Branding
Identity Branding – Secrets to success
Identity
branding is an important part of your business and your identity is what sets you apart from the
other companies in your niche of business. Some people could also call this your USP.
You have to make people want to buy from you for some reason and the reason is not your reason,
but their reason. You may think people will buy from you because you are honest, but they may be
buying from you because their son goes to school with your son!
Life is fickle and it
takes a lot to get to know your customers. When I first arrived in The Philippines I was dominating
the laser show industry. I was the only person in Manila operating a laser hire business. Then after
a couple of good years, one of my regular customers told me that he was getting a laser from his
friend who had bought one. He said that he realized that they were not as good as me, but they went
to school together when they were kids and how could he say no to him.
This is reality
and no business school or text book prepares you for this kind of business and it will happen
sometimes to you, s it is important that you get into the minds of your customers and this is where
identity branding comes in.
Identity branding is important because it tells your customer
who and what you are. When you say certain company names that you know what immediately springs to
mind?
If I say the following names what do you think off immediately:
Elvis
Presley
Walt Disney
Neil Armstrong
Ghandi
Alfred Nobel
Alexander Graham
Bell
I am sure that each one of those names brings a picture into your head and that is
their Identity Branding.
So when people hear your name or your company name, what do
they think? What is the picture that pops into their head?
Identity Branding tips:
1) Always be the best
2) Never take shortcuts
3) You’re only as
good as your promises
4) Find a unique niche
5) Give more than you promise
6) Don’t work for money
7) Finish your projects on time
8) Make quality
important
9) Don’t be affected by circumstances
10) Take full responsibility
for what you create
Your customers need to know they matter to you. They don’t care
how much money you are making or how nice your office is. They have a problem and they need it
solving. Solve their problems and you have a customer. Your reputation should precede you and when
others talk about you the images you portray in their heads could make or break you.
If
there is one thing you should concentrate on building it is your Identity Branding.
