As the world continues to move towards newer technology, keeping pace with it all becomes
increasingly difficult. It seems everyday a new product is unveiled that is better than the
competition. Who can keep up with it all? Teenagers that's who!
An excellent example is the announcement of Joe Biden to be the running mate with Barack Obama in
the presidential election. How was this announcement made initially? It was made via text
messaging! Who uses text messaging the most? Teenagers and young adults. They appear to be
consumed with texting each other be it for pleasure or business.
All this fabulous technology is not free! In fact, it can be very expensive. With the economy is a
state of free fall and experts predicting even graver times ahead, parents of teens are being
squeezed financially. Technology is one area, but what about clothes, shoes and the expenses
associated with school and social activities designed for teens? It's little wonder that some
parents are drowning in debt trying to provide for their kids.
As jobs usually reserved for teens are being taken by unemployed adults, teens that want to work are
being left out of the already shrinking job market. I'm not really big on teens working during the
school year because I feel it interferes with the learning process.
This means teens have to find other ways to make money. Working online is one way to solve this
problem.
Teens working online is a good concept for several reasons. Most are already comfortable using
computers and being online. Being able to make their own money will give them a sense of confidence
and pride. Making money without the benefit of a standard job can foster the spirit of being an
entrepreneur. Working online will also allow the parents to know where the teenage is and what they
are doing without being overbearing. Let's not forget the economic relief the parents will feel
when the teenager is able to buy those little extras themselves!
As the world becomes more of a global marketplace, being able to earn money without having to work
for someone will be a very valuable asset. What better time to learn these skills then when you are
a teenager? It is a win win situation for the parents and the teenager!
