5. Avoid boredom – not having anything to do is one of the primary causes of barking. Play with him or her and provide toys so that when you’re not there or you can’t play, then he or she can keep him or herself occupied.

For example, feed your dog at the same time every day so you don’t have to be informed that he or she is hungry.

7. Don’t waste your time by attempting to stop dog barking at all times. It is only excessive barking that can be stopped. The fact is that dogs bark, so owning a dog means you’ll need to be ready to hear the occasional “woof”.
