Jesus warned his disciples saying,"And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not
troubled: for such things must be; but the end shall not be yet. For nation shall rise against
nation, and kingdom against kingdom:" Mark 13:7, 8
He likewise pointed out that these matters must be, but the end was not quite yet when we see these
things happening. As a matter of fact there were and have been wars and rumors of wars on umpteen
occasions since he articulated the statement, but the conclusion is not yet. There were additional
occurrences that had to come to fruition, but the prophetic significance is that these wars, and
rumors thereof, will intensify as the end draws closer and closer.
The prophetic angle that I would like to talk about is that of the present U.S. war (billed as part
of the general war on terror) as it pertains to the damage done to the United States and the rights
of Americans. The large majority of the American people are opposed to this war, in fact, very many
of them are convinced that it was based on a deception from the outset.
What is amazing about the situation; however, is the refusal of the elected representatives to honor
the will of the people. The American taxpayer is being coerced to spend billions and billions of
dollars for a war that they have very distinctly spoken that they do not want.
Further, many Americans are losing their dwellings, paying higher gas prices, food prices etc.,
while seeing billions of their tax dollars being pledged to war spending, and bank bailouts.
Notwithstanding the mantra of "government by the people" in "free" America is still touted.
The Bible prophets warned us that the basic representative government in this country would
eventually come under assault, and at length be altogether altered but the great majority of the
American people have not cared to heed or regard the voice of the prophets.
The Bible encourages us to "Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his
prophets, so shall ye prosper." 2 Chronicles 20:20.
However, we have not listened to this and as a consequence we discover ourselves living in a new
American America which the ideals of the Bill Of Rights have become lightly considered by many in
places of power and influence. And the outcome of this will be an America that is unrecognizable
from what it used to be and what made it superb.
An outstanding example of this is when long time senator and Republican candidate for president John
McCain was asked on 60 minutes "At what point do you stop doing what you think is right, and start
doing what the majority of the American people want" (with respect to the war in Iraq).
Senator McCain answered, "I disagree with what the majority of the American people want". It seems
to me that we should have listened to the prophets.
