1. Drink lots of water everyday.


I'm not preaching it is necessary to drink a certain amount of water everyday, like the usual eight glasses you hear everyone else say. However you should consume water whenever you're thirsty (and don't wait until you're mouth is parched). Just drink an amount until you're not thirsty anymore. Everyone's requirements are different so just adjust your intake as necessary.

What the water does is not only cleanse your system and rejuvenate your cells but it can actually decrease water retention. When your body isn't receiving enough water, it holds onto everything it's got for survival. But when it's getting an ample water supply, it releases the retained water because it no longer has a need for it. Ironic how that works, huh?

2. Whatever you do, DON'T SKIP BREAKFAST! That's' very important.

When you sit down and enjoy a healthy breakfast, you are actually giving your metabolism a booster jump and helps it to wake it up from "starvation mode". When you are sleeping at night, your body's metabolic rate slows down significantly because you don't use that much energy while you are resting. (Now it makes sense when you hear don't eat big meals right before bedtime?) Your body spends the whole night focusing on everything else except digestion. Therefore it's your job to recharge your rested body whenever you wake up. Try this method and you should start seeing improvements quickly!

Eggs are a great breakfast menu item. You can make an omelet with veggies, a little bit of cheese or maybe one with ham or sausage. The protein from the eggs will keep you full and energized all the way until lunch time. Chase it down with fresh squeezed orange juice and you'll be ready to attack anything that day! If you load up on sugar cereals and processed breakfast foods, you'll be sure to feel sluggish and hungry all morning.

3. Eat Small Meals and Eat Them Often.

It only takes about 3 hours for food to be completely digested so your goal should be to eat a small healthy meal (or snack) every 3 hours or so - BEFORE you get hungry again. This way your body will be constantly nourished.

This works the same as the water process. If you're starving yourself, your body will hold onto all it can to survive. If you continue to give it the necessary vitamins and minerals with the right foods, you will turn your body into a fat burning machine and boost metabolism fast!

The most beneficial foods consist of "negative calorie foods" such as fruits and vegetables in their natural states. Another great snack idea that would surely satisfy a sweet and salty craving would be some celery sticks decorated with your favorite chunky peanut butter and colorful dried cranberries. Creating a fresh fruit smoothie would not only satisfy your thirst on a hot day but also give you energy AND raise your metabolic rate!
