Sunday is rest day – family day. It is the day when we spoil ourselves with time and do
some of the things we wanted to do for ourselves all week, but we were too busy.
Sunday should be a nice day.
I love Sunday because I can spend time with my son Federico and he is going so fast now and
having him in my life really make me appreciate just how important it is to lead a good life. Life
can be very challenging and demanding of our good qualities and sometimes we can fly through life
without taking time to check to see how we are doing.
So I have put together 10 moments of reflection that we can stop for each week to see how we did
this week. Acknowledge your good days and also your bad days. Let the bad days go, but remember to
promise to do better.
1) What was the most important thing I learnt about myself last week?
Every week (if not everyday,) we should be able to learn something about ourselves. Did you do
something that worked really well? What did you do that made it work? If you did this great thing
more often what would happen? Was there anyone special that helped you? What can you do to achieve
this more often? You may find that you have a new skill or that you have done something you
haven’t done before. Was it a thrill?
Was there a moment of regret last week when you lost it and made an idiot of yourself? Why did
this happen and what did you learn about yourself? Why do you act this way? What can you do to make
things better? It is easy to get angry or loose control. There are so many jerks in this life
– or maybe we were one of them and possibly we upset someone as well in the process.
2) What was the number 1 thing you accomplished last week?
Was this part of your plan for the week or did it spring out of somewhere? What does this
achievement mean to you? Sometimes we forget to pat ourselves on the back for the great things we
do, so it is good to wallow in the moment of the achievement, but remember that there were probably
people on the way that helped you. Nothing happens alone, even if sometimes it feels like it. If you
made a plan to accomplish something great every week, how much grander would your life be at the end
of one year?
3) What was your most memorable and wonderful moment last week?
Every week we do something great for someone. It may be something small (small to you) like
talking to someone who needs a friend or it may be something incredible such as starting a new
business or having a new baby. Whatever it was take time to contemplate what it means to you and why
it was great. What role did you play in the part of the moment? Could you do this again? Did this
moment have something to do with your passion or goals and will it lead to something even
bigger?
4) What is the most important thing I need to do this coming week?
Begin your new week with a plan of action. There should be something in your life that absolutely
need to happen and everything else should revolve around it. Once you have decided, plan and act
accordingly and let nothing stop you achieving this moment. How great your life will be if you have
at least one especially great moment in your life each week. It is time to start really enjoying
your meaningful life.
5) What can I do right now to make my life less stressful?
Life is so stressful and stress kills us. Stress has a reputation of contributing to about 90% of
all known sickness, so we deserve to be in a world of less stress. Can you delegate some things to
other people? Can you quit some things altogether? Is there something that you are doing in your
life that needs cleaning out? Are you wasting time doing lots of little things, when the big
important things are getting pushed aside? Can you learn to accept what is and allow life to be as
it is without always trying to change everything to be exactly as we want it to be? Stress is so
boring and it is time to bring an exciting change into your life.
6) Is there something that I am struggling with that I need help with?
We can’t do everything no matter how bionic we think we are. Is there something in your
life that you need to let someone help you with? If you did this would it make your life easier? It
is good to get help from other people. Not only will you allow other people to give to you and enjoy
the moment of giving, but you will also grow both in knowledge and in the art of receiving. We need
to allow receiving to happen so that giving can take place as well. Let people help you with
something this week and lighten your load. There is a limit to just how much one person can do
alone.
7) What was your worst failure last week?
Sorry to break it to you, but we are not perfect and you will have done something that you
consider a failure. It may be at work, at play, in sports, in a relationship or something else. What
happened? What went wrong? How can you put safety barriers in place to make sure that this
doesn’t happen again? Is this something that keeps happening to you repeatedly or was it a
one-off thing? Were there any warning signs?
8) Is there anything that I need to let go off this week?
We all carry baggage of some kind. We can’t help it. Was there something that someone did
or said, intentionally or otherwise that you need to let go before it consumes you? Remember too
that others are not perfect either and may not even be aware that they did something to upset you.
Or maybe you are a bit too sensitive or too hard with people. Can changing your attitude help make
things better? Holding onto something bitter for too long will create toxins in your body, which
unless allowed to be removed will eventually build up to unbalance and finally sickness.
9) What have I been avoiding that I can do on Monday morning?
All of us need to do something. It may be something really big or there may be loads of little
things that need doing to get rid of clutter. Why not set out this week to do it and clear the way
for something new to come into your life. If your hands are full, you cannot pick up other things.
If your heart id full of the ex-love in your life, there is no room for the new love to come into
you. Do what has to be done. Do it without delay.
10) What opportunities are in front of you waiting to be taken?
So many people are so sad about something that they fail to see the good in their life. With
every seed of misfortune comes an equivalent grain of good. There is something good in everything.
All you have to do is shift your perspective. No matter what has happened in your life, someone is
having it worse somewhere else. “I felt sad because I had no shoes, until I met a man with no
feet!” says the quotation.
Look in your life right now and no matter how bleak it may seem or how mundane it may be, there
are opportunities staring at you in the face. Look up and see them.
I hope you like my soul searching question. If you answer these each week I am convinced that
life will be different and full of great ideas. Have a wonderful week ahead and enjoy your
life.
