With the advance in technology we now have a GPS system which can monitor, track vehicles and
give proper directions. The vehicle tracking system (VTS) is the best tool for tracking, real
monitoring and reporting. In combination with GPS this provides an automatic generation and delivery
of MIS reports through email.
Nokia has released a new model the 6110 Navigator aimed for
the masses and costs just 450/ $ 580. It has almost everything one needs. It is a four band mobile
phone with satellite navigational skills. It also has the -GPS (Assisted Global Positioning System)
and preinstalled maps which need just a one touch button to start it. It has almost everything that
you would want in a mobile phone.
This model guides you vocally by giving clear and
specific instructions. It even places arrows on the map so that you can reach your destination
easily without any problems. It is designed to mark your position on the map, search destinations,
find specific routes and even locate restaurants, hotels and shops in the area. What more can a
person want?
GPS on the mobile phone is now a very real thing and there are a growing
number of phones which are capable of linking to a GPS kit and most mobiles now have this entirely
new feature available.
Mio A710 is a new model which is slender, sleek, small and very
impressive. GPS is installed in this through the new SiRF Star III which allows you to pick up
signals even indoors and you have yet to start your journey. Maps of Europe are included and you
have to just insert them through the side button. The mapping software is easy to use and is quick
and efficient.
The GPS maps can be started by pressing a button that supports a flip
screen option which you can use to flip from landscape to portrait. However all this can be used in
the car. As soon as you leave the car, the usability suffers.
There are mobiles which
have the tri-band GSM phone which runs on Microsoft's new windows Mobile 5 OS which means that
business users can take advantage of its new Push Email features to make it work just like a
Blackberry and also give you access to many applications like Word and PowerPoint. It could also
house a camera and be easy to handle and use. However the screen number pad is small and it may be
difficult to press with your fingers. You may have to use a stylus if you want to dial a number.
You become too demanding and feel that with so many applications available it would have
been really nice if wifi was also included in the package so that you could read your mail and surf
the net when you have the time or are caught in a traffic jam.
